Obrożyska Lime Forest" - located in the Poprad Landscape Park, the "Obrożyska Lime Forest" reserve comprises the Mikowa Mountain located above Muszyna. The uniqueness of this area was noticed already at the beginning of the 20th century by professor Bogumił Pawłowski who postulated the creation of a nature reserve here. His suggestions were put into effect in 1919 and since then the area of the reserve has been enlarged five times to 100 hectares.

What was so strange about the seemingly ordinary forest in the Beskids that Professor Pawłowski and other researchers of mountain flora noticed? Well, on the slopes of Mikowa, the only fragment of a lime tree forest in the Carpathians has been preserved. The oldest trees here are over 200 years old. The luminous old forest with a small admixture of other species is one of the greatest treasures of the Poprad Landscape Park.

Numerous animal species such as badgers, wild boars, roe deer and foxes have found shelter in its undergrowth. If you are lucky, you may even spot a wildcat or a rare butterfly in Poland - the Clouded Apollo. Moreover, there is one of the biggest refuges of the spotted salamander in Poland.

In the 1990s, the Poprad Landscape Park authorities decided to mark out a walking and educational trail within the reserve. It has been marked, provided with boards containing information about the countryside and nature, and equipped with places for rest such as benches and shelters.

The trail runs through the most valuable areas of the reserve and shows its floristic richness. It presents not only the main plant species but also the basic forest communities occurring in its area. Boards also inform about animals that can be observed in the area. Walking the whole trail takes about 2 hours and is not particularly exhausting. You can make longer or shorter stops at specially prepared places and enjoy the beauty of the Carpathian nature.
